In the surroundings of the station there are not important antropogenic sources of pollutants and the same time it is surrounded of pine forests in its south portion and west. While by north and east there are sugar cane, grains, grasses and smaller cultivation. The climate of the region is classified as tropical and seasonally humid with maritime influence.
In our insular conditions results of much interest the local regime from the winds characterized by the presence of the convective central belt and the influence of the coastal breezes. Indeed, In our country the orography is the transformation factor more important of the normal regime of local winds, that it is of the first quadrant in the North coast and of the second in the South. Therefore all of the above explains in fact that the value annual average of the speed of the wind is approximately equal to 11 kilometers per hour, moreover, it is known that the wind direction predominant is Northeast on this station.
