Observation
Category : Air sampling observation
Situation : ongoing
Time zone : Local time +1

Sampling
Sampling height : 7
Description : continuous
Sampling and analysis frequency : Continuously on a 1-minute time basis.
Sampling environment : Mountain peak with completly free horizon.
No local sources of contamination. No access by road.
Timberline about 300m below the measurement site.
Description for sampling analysis : The air is sampled by a 2m long heated intake at 7 m height above
the ground with a flux of 40 l/s. The air intake is composed by an external (outside building) steel pipe (internally covered by Teflon) and the internal (inside building) Pyrex pipe. A Teflon sampling line (lenght 1.5m) connects the air intake with analysers.

Instrument and Analysis
Measurement method : UV fluorescence
Current status and history of instrument : Since 2014, March: 43i TLE (Thermo Scientific)
Description of instrument : UV fluorescence: Thermo Scientific 43i TLE
The instruments undergo instrument tests (i.e. detection limit evaluation) after first receipt. In operation, the instrument is regularly maintaned on-site following the standard operation procedures. Daily, monthly and yearly data quality checks are carried out at the Institute laboratories.

Calibration
Current scale employed in the measurement : provisional
Measurement calibration : Automatic zero and span checks every 49 hrs by using a certified permeation tube (emission rate 44 ng/min ± 10%) as span source.
Scale and calibration(treasability) :

Data Processing
Measurement unit : ppb
Data processing : Quality assurance procedures involve time series plots, daily checks of internal parameters, zero evaluation, consistency checks with other tracers and meteorological data.
Hourly mean values were calculated if 75% of 1-minute data are available.
Daily mean values were calculated if 75% of hourly data are available.
Monthly mean values were calculated if 75% of hourly data were available.
Data below the detection limit (0.11 ppb on 1-minute) were retained for the averaging processes.
Processing for averaging : Processing for Hourly Data:
Hourly mean values were calculated if 75% of 1-minute data are available.
Data below the detection limit (0.11 ppb on 1-minute) were retained for the averaging processes.
Processing for Daily Data:
Obtained by averaging all available hourly data. Daily mean values were calculated if 75% of hourly data are available.

Processing for Monthly Data:
Obtained by averaging all available daily data. Monthly mean values were calculated if 75% of daily data were available.
